Author Info: A Post-graduate from Panjab University, Chandigarh, Nitu is one of the first Lady Officers to join the Armed forces. Service in various arenas provided a rare insight into lives of women on both sides of the conflict. An officer of the 1991 batch of CRPF, recipient of Police Medal for Meritorious Service, Antrik Suraksha Padak and Kathin Seva Padak, she is also associated with NGOs particularly working with street children, people with disabilities and widows.
