Engaging Students in Online Learning

Effective Strategies for Engaging Students in Online Learning

Higher Demand For Higher Studies

These days since more and more people are opting for master’s degrees and even more than that like double master’s and doctoral degrees. It is only fair to consider all the alternatives beforehand to make an informed decision rather than jumping to the conclusion and choosing a field that might not be right for you.

Irrespective of the fact that all academic fields are good and not wrong per se, however, the significance of their characteristics varies from person to person depending on their;

  • Interests
  • Situations
  • Financial limitations
  • Abilities, and
  • Willingness to learn

All these factors add up in deciding whether or not an individual should opt for a certain program.

Amidst the deadly disease spreading like fire causing a worldwide pandemic when all normal day operations were hindered greatly. All businesses, academic institutes, and entertainment had to shut down creating obstacles in earning a living and let alone forming impediments to children’s learning since schools are also closed.

However, to overcome the gap that occurred after almost a year-long closure of schools and other academic institutes, online classes or e-learning were finally introduced. Thus, changing the conventional and traditional ways of education to protect people from the virus. (Educations.com, 2022)

With this drastic alteration, students no longer have to be physically present in the classroom. Now you can get a quality education through the computer, irrespective of your geographical location. All this is possible due to the rise in technology.

How Did Online Education Get its Fame?

Major life-altering effects were brought on by COVID-19; in addition to affecting social interaction, these effects included longer-than-expected closures of businesses, events, and even academic institutions. Due to the widespread lockdowns, which have caused more than 77 million children to miss school for nearly eighteen months at this point, the globe is currently experiencing an educational crisis. (UNICEF, n.d.)

All academic institutions worldwide switched from in-person face-to-face classes to online learning in order to ensure that the standard operating procedures established by the World Health Organisation (WHO) were followed. This occurred even though the world did transition from personal to online. However, it’s important to remember that it’s one of a child’s fundamental rights is the opportunity to attend school in order to advance their welfare and comprehension.

Although it was initially a wise choice to close the academic institutions, it was not entirely correct because it is challenging to keep the kids in line with all the rules and SOPs throughout the day and there is a good chance that they will become irritated easily. (Mahyoob, 2020)

As a result, taking classes online or engaging in e-learning has become the standard. Even while online learning has gained popularity all over the world, it has advantages and disadvantages of its own, much like the offline, conventional methods of learning. Since the introduction of the vaccination, the majority of schools have adopted hybrid learning, which involves taking both offline and online lessons.

How To Keep The Students Engaged in Online Classes?

Even though online classes are way more relaxed as students can easily ask anyone to take my class for me than onsite classes are yet it has been observed that students prefer to opt for onsite classes.

However, students instead of hiring someone to pay to do my online class students want to visit the university. It is important that the students are fully aware of the advantages of both online and offline classes This, therefore, enables the students to choose between the alternatives based on their convenience and which methods suit them the best.

As mentioned above, both ways of learning have their advantages and disadvantages, students should evaluate before making a choice.

The following could be effective in convincing the students to opt for the right type of class based on their preferences.; (Colliot, 2020)
