India’s Chandrayaan Rocket to Space for Lunar Mission

India is on its way to the moon. What only three countries have done so far. But if they succeed, they will be the first nation to land near the South Pole of the Moon. Less explored than other parts of the Earth’s surface.

The Indian Space Agency said the first part went well. But for now, we’ll have to wait until at least August 23 to see if India can do what no one else can. It’s a landing on the south side of the moon.

Thank you for joining us today. Zoya Mateen, Meryl Sebastian, Gita Pandey and Arnoday Mokerjee got the latest from India, while Anna Boise, Antoinette Radford, Jack Burgess and I joined in London. Since this page will soon end, I will summarize here the success of India’s space launch.

This is the region that remains in the shadows and is much larger than the Moon’s north pole.

And scientists say water is likely to be found in this area. ISRO Chairman Shridhara Panicker Somanath said of India: “Antarctica is of growing scientific interest because we’ve reached the equator where it’s safe to land, and there’s a lot of data to back it up.” “If we want to make important scientific discoveries, we have to go to new areas like Antarctica. But the risk of landing is high.” NASA also announced plans to send U.S. astronauts to the lunar south pole by 2024, primarily to explore water, an “important resource for long-term exploration.” “Water is essential to the progress of human exploration. It could be used to drink, cool, breathe, and make rocket fuel for missions further into the solar system,” he said. He added that the experience they gained on the Moon would be used. Help prepare astronauts to send to Mars.
