Final Fantasy 6’s Sabin has special orders called “Blitzes” that take some practise to learn. The best ones are these.
Edgar, who is the Prince of Figaro, is the brother of Sabin. Technically, Sabin is also a prince, but he left home soon after their father died to become a great fighter like a monk. Edgar, Locke, and Terra find him training in the woods, and he quickly joins the Final Fantasy 6 party as the fourth member.
The unique special order that Sabin has is called “Blitz.” Like in a fighting game, players can type in orders to do moves on enemies. Some are simple to learn, while others are harder. At least, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster has made it easy to use these skills. Sabin will learn Blitzes as he grows up, so let’s quickly rank how powerful each one is.
Soul Spiral
Sabin can learn Soul Spiral at level 42, which is kind of a bummer. The method will kill Sabin in order to heal everyone else in the party. Sabin will leave the fight and can’t even be brought back.
This Blitz should only be used as a last resort, but it is a good way to heal in an RPG. But the cost of making a trade is a bit too high, since losing one full-party member can be hard. Soul Spiral is easy to do by pressing R, L, Up, Down, Right, Left, and then A.
Aura Cannon
Before Edgar, Locke, and Terra find Sabin in the game, they should have learned how to use the Aura Cannon. It’s a level three Blitz, and it’s like Sabin’s version of a Kamehameha Wave from the Dragon Ball series. It is a move that doesn’t use an element and will hit only one person.
It’s good for bosses and enemies that can’t be hurt by physical attacks, but it’s not one of Sabin’s best skills generally. It’s one of the Blitzes that’s most useful in the beginning of Final Fantasy 6. Down, Diagonal Down Left, Left, and then A are all you need to do to use the Aura Cannon.
Meteor Strike
Meteor Strike is Sabin’s version of a suplex, which is what it was called in the SNES version. Sabin will grab the monster you choose, jump into the air, and then slam it into the ground. The move is a great strike, but sometimes it doesn’t work.
For example, this move usually can’t be used on enemies that are in the air, and most bosses won’t be harmed either. This Blitz can be learned at level ten, whether you like it or not. Meteor Strike is easy to use: just press R, L, Down, Up, and then A.
Chakra
Sabin can fix himself better with Chakra than with Soul Spiral. For a small amount of energy, Sabin will heal the group. This is unusual for Chakra in the series, since most methods like this can only be used once.
Amarant from Final Fantasy 9 uses Chakra on himself, for example. This move can be learned at level 23, and players should try to learn it as soon as they can. It can stand in for Cure or Cura power when you need to. Chakra can be done by just saying “R, L, R, L, Down, Up, and then A.”
Raging Fist
Raging Fist is the first move Sabin will learn when he gets to level 1. Even though it is his first, it is still one of his best in Final Fantasy 6. In games, this often happens with magic, skills, and sometimes even guns.
In Dead Space, for example, the Plasma Cutter is the first and best tool you get. Even though Raging Fist isn’t Sabin’s best Blitz, it will still pack quite a punch. Raging Fist is easy to do by just saying Left, Right, Left, and then A.
Rising Phoenix
Rising Phoenix is a great skill that Sabin might or might not learn when they first meet at level 15. It depends on how much players grind, which isn’t hard to do in Final Fantasy 6: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster.
This is because this remake adds boosts that work like help modes and can increase how many experience points players get. Now, the method will use a wave of fire to attack all foes. Rising Phoenix can be done by pressing Left, Diagonal Down Left, Down, Diagonal Down Right, Right, and then A. This is a complicated sequence of commands.
Razor Gale
Razor Gale is similar to Rising Phoenix, but it uses wind instead of fire. Power-wise, it’s almost the same, and whether players use this or Rising Phoenix relies on where the enemy is weak. For example, fire damage is usually bad for the undead, and there are a lot of undead creatures in Drift Boss game.
Players should reach level 30 before the World of Ruin part of Final Fantasy 6 so they can learn the Blitz. Razor Gale can be done by typing Up, Diagonal Up Right, Right, Diagonal Down Right, Down, Diagonal Down Left, Left, and then A.
Phantom Rush
Phantom Rush is Sabin’s best move, and there are two ways to learn it. Players can grind for hours to get to level 70, which will instantly open the door. They can also go see Master Duncan in the World of Ruin, who amazingly made it through the disaster.
Sabin’s aura deals a lot of non-elemental damage to a single enemy on the ground. This is another Blitz. Phantom Rush can be done by pressing Left, Diagonal Up Left, Up, Diagonal Up Right, Right, Diagonal Down Right, Down, Diagonal Down Left, Left, and then A. This is a complicated sequence of commands.
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster came out again for platforms on April 19, 2023. It can be played on both the PS4 and the Switch.
